WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Revealing the beauty of plants in a drawing is enhanced by how an artist translates them into an expressive composition on paper. Fall provides the distinctive forms and textures of seed pods, branches, and fruits that we will observe as we draw from simple, handmade arrangements of these subjects. During the one-day workshop, artist/horticulturist Rebecca Allan will demonstrate drawing techniques with pencil and bamboo pen and ink, inspired by late-season plants, in the garden and in botanical artworks by such artists as Maria Sybilla Merion, Ellsworth Kelly, and Elizabeth Blackladder. Everyone will have reflective time to practice drawing skills and stroll the gardens. The workshop is open to 15 participants (18+). Rain or shine.
